Adam Opel AG, or Opel for short, is a German-based automotive company of Groupe PSA, founded in 1862 by Adam Opel. It has been manufacturing cars since 1899 and became a company in 1929. Centrally located in the city of Rüsselsheim. In 1929, General Motors became a partner of the company, and in 1931 acquired all shares. Sold to PSA Peugeot Citroën in 2017.
