Automotive industry exports increased by 13 percent in 2016!

Automotive Industry Association announced the automotive industry foreign trade report for the fourth quarter of 2016. According to this; Turkey's total exports decreased by 1 percent in 2016, exports of the automotive industry has increased by 13 percent and maintained its first place with 16.8 percent share in total exports.

Turkey's total exports in 2016 compared to the same period last year, 1 percent, while imports decreased by 4 percent. In this period, foreign trade deficit decreased from 63 billion dollars to 56 billion dollars. Customs Tariff Statistics Position (GTİP) 87 according to the data determined by the export of automotive foreign trade 13 percent compared to last year, imports increased by 2 percent. The deficit, which was $ 80.9 million in 2015, was closed and in 2016 foreign trade posted a surplus of $ 1.96 billion. In 2016, automobile exports and imports increased by 21 percent and 7 percent, respectively. During this period, foreign trade deficit of automobiles decreased to the level of 1.48 billion dollars. In 2016, in the foreign trade balance data on the basis of GTİP; Looking at the analysis of the top 10 sectors that create surplus foreign trade, 87 GTİP'li Motor vehicles, tractors, bicycles, motorcycles and other land vehicles, their components, parts, accessories' foreign trade was the sixth sector that creates a surplus of foreign trade.

Turkey foreign trade surplus in the first 10 sectors that create total foreign trade, foreign trade surplus was created, with 74 percent share in all sectors. According to the last 10 years of foreign trade data; the automotive sector posted a foreign trade surplus except for 2011 and 2015. The average trade balance of the automotive sector in the last 10 years was worth 1.6 billion dollars. According to the monthly development of 2016 foreign trade balance; the automotive sector had foreign trade surplus except for March and May. The ratio of exports to imports was 1.11 in the year total. Automotive main and sub-industry exports are analyzed by Uludağ Exporters' Associations (UIB) specifically for OSD. UIB Turkey compared to the general classification of the automotive industry 'Trailers and Semi-Trailers', 'agricultural tractor' data are included are; 'Used Vehicles', 'Two Wheeled Vehicles', 'Railway Vehicles' were excluded. In 2016, exports of automotive main industry increased by 18 percent and supplier industry exports increased by 4 percent compared to the previous year. Total automotive exports increased by 12 percent to $ 24.25 billion.
